BBC TV programme about skiers

The BBC are planning a sking/snowboarding TV show based a variety of people going on a skiing holiday. They are curerently at the "casting" stage, i.e. trying to find people who may be going out the the slopes and willing to be filmed.


The show will be called "Hitting the Slopes" and is scheduled to be filmed in February and March. The company producing the show is called Luckyday TV and they are offering to help with the expenses if a group wants to be part of the show.

 

They want to film the life and times of an average skier on holiday and are trying to cover the ages up to 18.

If you are interested in being a skiing star you can contact Holly Miechowski at Luckyday TV on 0207 013 4116. She will ask you to fill in an application form which I have attached.

Dear all budding racers,

While the big boys prepare to throw themselves down the Streif in Kitzbuel don't forget we have another winter series race next wednesday.

Just like these top athletes we need practice too and with mount Silksworth still snowy it couldn't be a better time to come along tonight.

Volunteers required for English Champs in Bormio*

Snowsports England are looking for volunteers to assist at the English Champs in Bormio in February. If you are interested in taking part as a gate judge, chief of race or just someone helping to give out or collect the bibs please let Ian Poynton know by emailling him at :- ipoynton@snowsportengland.org.uk

One way tunnel to Bormio - facts

The Munt la Schera Tunnel

If you are planning to drive to Bormio in February there is a one way tunnel some 33 miles from Bormio and has a one way system open as follows:-

 

 

The tunnel is 35euros or 42 CHF return

 

Back ground

The Munt la Schera Tunnel is a single lane road tunnel located in the Swiss canton of Grisons. It connects the Engadin valley with Lago di Livigno, through Munt la Schera.

The tunnel is now open 24 hours a day. The tunnel is only wide enough for a single vehicle, and traffic moves in alternate directions controlled by traffic lights which change every fifteen minutes. The tunnel is subject to height and width maxima of 3.6 and 2.5 m respectively.

Opened for public transport in 1968, initially the tunnel was used to transport building materials for the construction of Punt dal Gall dam.
