Winter Series is on next Wednesday. As always we need parents to help out so can you please email back to confirm if you are willing to help on the night. All jobs are available and there are several parents on hand to explain things if you are unsure. We will be moving to a new system for next year whereby all skiers taking part will be required to provide an official or helper (we will publish details at the AGM).

Ravens had another great training session at Castleford yesterday, plans are under way to organise another one for May. The snowdome is getting quieter now so we will be running other trips through the summer but with later starting times so watch this space for further details.

The Winter Series presentation and summer bbq is now booked for friday 24th June at Ramside Golf club. Due to the success of the xmas one we will be putting tickets out for this in the next couple of weeks so keep the date clear in your social calendar!

John Greenwood will be taking a more active role in organising events and training sessions while Lee is out of action. John will also have a more active role in communication of events going forward. This will hopefully ensure more information about upcoming events is communicated quicker and more frequently. John will be posting on the Ravens Facebook account as well as the blog page. We will aim to keep emails to once a fortnight and the noticeboard updated every three months.

And finally....whilst it is some way off, Ravens ski club is always looking for new members to join the committee. I am in my 3rd year as chairman and whilst i said i would commit to 5 years I also said there was a break clause after 3 so this is the perfect time for someone to step up and take over the role if they wish. There are several roles available within the committe and As a club i also think it is important that the committee attracts fresh faces so that it is run in a way that reflects what it its members want. If you are interested in joining or taking a more active role in the club please let me or any of the other committee members know.

Hi folks

There will be NO Sunday training, this Sunday

Tuesday, 8 March 2011

Hi all

Voss - 45 Ravens went out to Voss during the half term. We flew out from Newcastle and arrived in Voss to be met by blue sky, sunshine and perfect snow conditions, albeit a bit chilly! Hotel Jahl looked after us perfectly for the week and the resort provided us with our own piste and excellent training facilities for the week. Parents, athletes and coaches all agreed it was a fantastic week and preliminary plans are under way to book again for next year. If you want more details for next year they will me coming out in the next couple of months.

Race Calendar - The races for this year are published on www.britski.org. We are aiming to compete in a number of races this year as a club. The first race we intend competing at is the Chillfactore on 23rd 24th April in the indoor championships Manchester. Many of the skiers are showing significant improvement on race night and we are keen as a club to encourage as many as possible to have a go at racing in a more competitive environment. We appreciate there are a number of skiers who have not registered to race before so if you need any further information or assistance please let us know. We will be looking to book Premier inns in Manchester in the coming week so let me know if you are interested.

Race Night - Thankyou to everyone who helped on race night last week. I appreciate it was particularly cold and it was one of those nights where the timing gear seemed to be determined to go wrong at every opportunity. Thanks to the several new parents who helped last week. Race night can not run without the assistance of the parents. We will be changing the rules after this winter series so that it is not the same parents being expected to help each race night. In the meantime if you havnt assisted yet during this winter series the next race night will be on Wednesday 30th March and we would love to hear from you!

Winter Series Presentation and Summer BBQ - following the positive feedback from the Xmas Party we have provisionally booked Ramside Golf Club on Friday 24th June. Further details to follow.

Sunday Training - As many of you know Lee Bennett is going into hospital and will be unable to take Sunday training for the next 6 weeks. We are looking into alternative arrangements and will let you know over the next week. I am sure I speak on behalf of everyone at Ravens when I say we wish him well and a very speedy recovery.
